Real Madrid have already decided on their plan B if Kylian Mbappe decides to stay at PSG

Real Madrid have already decided on their plan B if Kylian Mbappe decides to stay at PSG

Real Madrid have already decided on their Mbappe plan B.

Real Madrid have already decided on their alternative should Kylian Mbappe remain at Paris Saint-Germain beyond next summer.

Somehow, Mbappe is still plying his trade at PSG, despite the forward having looked primed for a move away after a very public fall-out with the club.

The France international refused to sign new terms with the French champions, only to be banished from first-team training and the club’s pre-season tour.

And though both parties have publicly buried the hatchet, Mbappe’s future still remains uncertain with less than a year left on his current deal.

Real have been strongly linked with Mbappe for years, having even come close to signing him back in 2022, only for the attacker to perform a dramatic U-turn and pen a new contract with PSG.

While it had been widely reported this summer that PSG are convinced Mbappe has already agreed to join Real next summer, Los Blancos may not have the space in their team for the 24-year-old, given Jude Bellingham’s arrival from Borussia Dortmund and Vinicus Jr.’s prominence in the team.

And according to Spanish publication Fichajes, Real have identified potential options in case they cannot land Mbappe, with Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez one of the players being considered.

Alvarez is in his second season at City, following his move from River Plate. Indeed in his first campaign in England, he netted 17 goals in all competitions last season, while he has already scored twice this time out.

While Alvarez has a long-term contract at City that runs until the summer of 2028 and is rated highly by Pep Guardiola, the Argentina international is behind Erling Haaland in the pecking order.

Indeed, the Norwegian scored some 52 goals in all competitions in his debut season at City.

Real will likely look to bring in a high-profile striker next summer, having lost Karim Benzema to Al-Ittihad this year.

And given Alvarez, who has over 20 caps for Argentina, is unlikely to displace Haaland in Guardiola’s starting line-up, a move to Madrid could be an enticing proposition.
