PSG plotting shock move for Premier League star in the summer

The French outfit could be about to sign one of the best stars in the English top flight.

Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with a swoop for one of the Premier League's top goalkeepers next summer - and it would be a big move if it comes off.

Luis Enrique's side sit second in Ligue 1 at present, three points behind early leaders Monaco, and face Nice on the French riviera this evening.

PSG have won the last three French top flight titles and will be seeking to claim their fourth league crown in a row by the end of this campaign.

The French team are yet to win the Champions League, however, despite the vast sums of money which have been spent over the years by the Parisian side.

In the goalkeeping department, PSG boss Enrique has Gianluigi Donnarumma, Matvey Safonov and Arnau Tenas to call upon.

However, it appears the French side are eyeing a potential move for one of the best in the Premier League to further reinforce Enrique's squad.

Ederson has been a Manchester City player since 2017, having moved to the Etihad Stadium from Benfica for £35m.

Though a big fee at that time for a goalkeeper, it has proved to be money well spent in the long run by City as the Brazilian has gone on to become the club's number one stopper during a period of domination under Pep Guardiola.

The 31-year-old has gone on to play 341 times for City in all competitions and won six Premier League titles, the Champions League, two FA Cups, four League Cups, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

The goalkeeper's current contract at the Etihad Stadium runs until mid-2026, so unless Ederson puts pen to paper on a new deal at City, next summer could be the last chance for Guardiola's side to obtain a transfer fee for the stopper.

It appears to be a situation which has not gone unnoticed at the Parc des Princes.

According to Spanish publication Fichajes, PSG have joined clubs from Saudi Arabia including Al Nassr and Al Ahli as among the sides who have set their sights upon Ederson's signature.

Clubs such as Al Nassr and fellow Saudi side Al Ittihad have previously made offers for the Brazilian, which ultimately did not materialise with a move away from Manchester for the goalkeeper.

But PSG are now said to have made the signing of Ederson a 'priority option' in their goalkeeping department, according to the report.

Whether this comes to pass next summer remains to be seen.
