Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly opened talks over the transfer of a surprise Premier League star.
With the World Cup now at the semi-final stage, players are beginning to return to their respective clubs ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Meanwhile, business in the transfer window is beginning to increase, with Manchester United announcing the signing of Andrey Santos from Chelsea in a deal worth £48 million on Monday (July 13), while also holding advanced talks over the signing of Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans.
Villa want the Belgium captain to stay at the club, but may be forced to sell the 29-year-old if United trigger his £35 million release clause.

Tielemans may not be the only player set to leave Villa Park in the coming days, as European champions PSG are reportedly finalising a move for Aston Villa left-back Lucas Digne, with the 32-year-old currently forming part of France’s World Cup squad.

The Athletic reports that the full-back has a release clause in his contract worth less than £10 million, with the player having two years remaining on his current deal.
Despite being Unai Emery’s first-choice left-back, Villa see Ian Maatsen as Digne’s long-term successor, while the 2026 Europa League winners are in talks over signing AC Milan and former Brighton left-back Pervis Estupiñán as competition.
Digne signed for Villa from Everton in the January 2022 transfer window and has since made 182 appearances for the club.
He has also represented Barcelona, Roma and Lille, as well as previously playing for PSG between 2013 and 2016, winning two Ligue 1 titles with the Parisians.
The Frenchman also boasts 62 caps for his country and has featured four times during Les Bleus' run to the World Cup semi-finals.
Lucas Digne doesn’t regret leaving PSG
Despite appearing likely to rejoin the club, Digne admitted that it was the right decision to leave PSG during an interview with RTL in 2020.
“Maybe sometimes I was impatient,” he said. “Maybe I should have taken my time. Maybe at Paris, I should have been a bit more patient before leaving. But aside from that, it was a career choice. I needed to play more often and to play all the matches. I needed that and, aside from that, honestly, when I look at my career, I can only be proud.”
