Oliver Glasner makes his feelings clear on Marc Guehi after being 'blanked' by Crystal Palace captain

Oliver Glasner shared his thoughts on Marc Guehi and the rest of his players after their Premier League opener against Chelsea.

Oliver Glasner hit out at 'internet rumours' amid reports linking Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi with stunning moves away from Crystal Palace this summer.

Palace opened their Premier League campaign with a goalless draw against Chelsea, which saw Eze controversially denied a goal due to a little-known rule.

Eze's free-kick wasn't the only talking point from the Stamford Bridge fixture as Guehi, who has been strongly linked with a switch to champions Liverpool, appeared to blank Glasner after the final whistle.

The England defender started the match even though his future is up in the air ahead of the window slamming shut next month.

Liverpool are keeping tabs on his situation and have held talks, with the star player's existing deal set to come to an end next summer.

But Glasner believes his Palace players aren't distracted from the outside noise, insisting they remain committed to the club.

"The players are giving the answer week by week. Last week, it was winning the Community Shield. This week, getting a point against the club world champions," he said in his post-match press conference.

"It shows this group have got such great characters. We have no influence on all the noise and rumours around us. But we know what we want to do and how we want to play. This is what we want to show every single game.

"The players did great today, they showed that everyone is 100 per cent committed to Crystal Palace, otherwise it is not possible to get a draw here against a very good Chelsea side. You are talking about rumours, Eze has a contract with us, he is our player and he showed it today. As long as he is a Crystal Palace player and performs like this then he will play for us."

Glasner added: "It's good advice to the kids to not always believe what you read, especially on the internet. Who knows if the rumours that are written are the truth? Everybody tells people things for their own advantage. I watch the players every single day in training, if most of the things that are written about them are true, the team couldn't perform like this, be together and committed to each other like they are - it's just not possible.

"The 15, 16 players who had the most minutes last year are still here. There are a lot of rumours about Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi but they were 100 per cent with this group in Crystal Palace and they have proved that in a big way."

Marc Guehi has two options this summer

Guehi played the entire game on Sunday as he helped his side keep a clean sheet against Chelsea.

But whether Glasner will have the luxury to call upon his services for the remainder of the season remains to be seen.

The 25-year-old continues to be linked with a move to Anfield ahead of the transfer deadline on September 1.

And, according to David Ornstein, Guehi has two options this summer; sign for Liverpool now or leave Palace on a free next year.

"Marc Guehi is a player who may leave Crystal Palace as well [as Eberechi Eze]," said Ornstein. "They’re looking for alternatives if that happens.

"Liverpool have held initial talks, but he may stay and see out the final 12 months of his contract and leave as a free agent in 2026. He’s playing today [Sunday]."
