Liverpool are interested in signing Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi as Arne Slot’s busy summer continues.

After making just one permanent signing in Slot’s first transfer window at the club, Liverpool have ramped up their recruitment after lifting the Premier League title and delivering on Virgil van Dijk’s promise of a big summer.

Jeremie Frimpong is already through the door at Anfield and will be joined by the club-record arrival of Florian Wirtz with a deal Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez seemingly a formality at this point.

It’s widely expected Liverpool will now turn their attentions to sales with the likes of Darwin Nunez, Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa all facing uncertain futures as well as defender Jarell Quansah.

The youngster, who broke into the first-team under Jurgen Klopp, has found game time limited under Slot and is on the verge of signing for Bayer Leverkusen meaning Liverpool are expected to be in the market for a replacement.

As per various reports, that replacement could be Guehi who has impressed for the Eagles since his move from Chelsea and was a key player in England’s run to the EURO 2024 final last summer.

Palace rejected multiple bids from Newcastle for the defender as well as turning down offers from Tottenham in January but with just one-year remaining on his current deal, Liverpool’s bid could be their last chance of securing a fee for the 24-year-old.

Speaking around the FA Cup final, Guehi refused to be drawn on the speculation over his future and highlighted his commitment to the club for the remainder of his deal.

“I think the most important thing is just always doing the best that I can for this football club," he said.

“‌I come in every day and I try to be the same.

"I try to work hard. And you know, this football club has given me a lot.

"I'm still under contract at this football club, so my focus is always at this football club.

"So, you know, for me, the most important is just doing the best I can and seeing where the future holds."

Guehi’s potential arrival at Liverpool could put first-choice centre-back Ibrahima Konate’s future in more doubt.

Talks over a new deal at the club are not believed to be advancing and the French defender is reportedly being lined up by Real Madrid for a stunning free transfer next summer.

With Liverpool already losing Trent Alexander-Arnold to the Spanish giants for a nominal fee, Guehi’s arrival could give them the chance to cash in during the current window.

A fee north of £40million should be expected to see Guehi end up at Anfield.
