Legendary goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has not ruled out the possibility of leaving Bayern Munich this summer.

The 38-year-old shot-stopper is currently away with the German national side in a bid to secure the European Championships trophy on home soil.

Neuer has started all four games for Germany, who are unbeaten against Scotland, Hungary, Switzerland and Denmark. The Bayern ace has conceded just two goals during these fixtures.

Despite his age, Neuer continues to perform at a high level but was limited in the role he could play throughout a disappointing 2023/24 season for Bayern. He started just 23 games for the Bavarian club in the Bundesliga, which saw his side finish in third place behind Bayer Leverkusen and Stuttgart.

Now, with the season finished and the summer transfer window upon us, the veteran has opened up on his future - and refused to rule out a move away from the Allianz Arena - as he approaches the final year of his deal at Bayern.

"If anything, the MLS would be an option. I spoke to Bastian Schweinsteiger, who played there, about it. But you have to think it through carefully.

"Also because they play a lot on artificial turf there, which is not ideal for a goalkeeper“, he told WELT Sport.

"I have always had enquiries and offers. But I knew that FC Bayern was the best place for me because of the environment and the squad. Although you should never say never: I would not move to Saudi Arabia or Qatar.“

Neuer would be joining an elite list of players who have chosen to make the move to the MLS in the latter stages of their careers. Steven Gerrard, Lionel Messi, Frank Lampard, David Beckham and Zlatan Ibrahimovic also swapped Europe for the USA - and Neuer could become the latest.
