Manchester United have been tipped to complete a shock Liverpool transfer that has not happened for 88 YEARS.

Man United recruited new talent in January as the club are set to reinforce further when the summer transfer window reopens.

A forward is believed to be high on Ruben Amorim's transfer wish-list despite the Red Devils shelling out £72 million for Rasmus Hojlund in the summer of 2023.

Hojlund has struggled ever since his switch from Atalanta, having scored just two league goals this season.

Victor Osimhen, who is on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford.

But Dwight Yorke reckons his old side should 'take a look' at Liverpool's Darwin Nunez, who has been linked with a move away from Anfield following his blockbuster transfer.

Nunez joined Liverpool from Benfica in a deal worth £85 million in the summer of 2022.

But, like Hojlund, Nunez has struggled for consistency and has bagged just four league goals this season.

Yorke believes the Uruguayan could resurrect his career at Man United, citing his 'physical presence'.

Asked who Man United should consider signing, Yorke told CasinoBeats: "I would be brave, and take a look at Darwin Nunez, if Liverpool make him available.

"He’s got a little roughness around the edges. United need somebody up there who can be the top man - they’re missing a player who’s got that believe and confidence. Who’s got that swagger to be the main man at Man United.

"I would take a punt on that guy. He’s still 25. He’s got a physical presence not too many people have."

The ex-Man United forward added: "You’re not going to get Isak. He would look at Man United and might think about it if they come in, but he will want to go to Liverpool or maybe Arsenal, but if Liverpool want you with what’s happening there, it’s an easy choice to make.

"The transfer market is a game of chess. Moves open up opportunities. Nunez could be on the market if Liverpool look to bring in a forward this summer.

"If they sign, one someone’s got to be offloaded to balance the books. If they’re going to offload Nunez, I will say to United take a serious look at him."

If Man United successfully signed Nunez from Liverpool, then it'd be the first transfer of its kind since 1937 when Ted Salvage swapped Liverpool for Man United.
