Liverpool are reportedly preparing to offer a massive player as part of a shock deal for their top transfer target in the summer.

After what was another quiet transfer window for Liverpool over the winter period, fans have grown frustrated with the club's lack of business in the market since Arne Slot's arrival.

Responding to fan's frustrations, the Liverpool boss reassured supporters that the club had been quiet because they were happy with the current squad, but there would definitely be signings in the summer.

And now, it appears that the Reds are preparing to launch their first transfer bid of the year, and they're willing to part ways with one of their own to secure a deal.

Although there are several positions that Liverpool fans feel that the club needs to strengthen in, perhaps the most pressing is up front.

While Diogo Jota is adored by fans, the Portuguese striker's injury record means that he cannot be relied upon for an entire season, and with back-up options Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz failing to impress in the role this season, a new striker could be required.

According to several reports, this view is shared by club officials, who have decided that the highly sought after Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is the perfect fit for Liverpool.

But they will face a tough challenge to convince the Geordie club to part ways with their star forward, who has been valued at £100million-plus.

To tackle this, Football Insider have reported that Liverpool are looking into securing the transfer deal by including Nunez in a player-plus-cash offer.

Liverpool signed the Uruguay international from Benfica for a reported fee of £85million in 2022, but now value him at around £60million.

In the same window, Isak joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad for a reported club-record fee of £63million.

Since then, Nunez has scored 39 goals and assisted 22 in 130 appearances for the Reds, while Isak has 54 goals and nine assists in 96 appearances for the Magpies.

Slot will also face competition for Arsenal if they hope to sign Isak this summer, as the London club also hopes to sign the superstar to address their glaring need for a new striker.
