Victor Osimhen's response when 'asked' if he will join Man Utd this summer is going viral

The Napoli forward, who is on loan at Galatasaray, has previously been linked with a move to the Premier League side.

Manchester United fans think Victor Osimhen is signing for the club after seeing his response to a fan.

Osimhen, 26, is currently on loan at Turkish outfit Galatasaray after falling out of favour at his parent club Napoli last summer.

The Nigeria international was heavily linked with a transfer to Chelsea in August 2024, but the Premier League side were reportedly put off by the Serie A club’s £113m asking price, according to BBC Sport.

This left the forward in limbo, which meant he then signed for Galatasaray because the Turkish transfer window was one of the few which remained open.

Manchester United have also been linked with a potential move for the player over the past few seasons, and the club’s fans are convinced he could join the club this summer after a video of him and a United fan emerged online.

United supporter and social media personality ‘Trey’ posted a video of himself and Osimhen to his TikTok account with the caption ‘POV: You convinced Victor Osimhen to sign for Man United’.

The forward could be seen shaking hands and laughing along with Trey.

And fans on social media had their say.

One said: "I don’t see ANY reason why any player would want to come to United at this stage. The club is clearly in a state of decline."

A second added: "Top ambitious footballer would want to join United."

While a third commented: "Man cursed him now even if he joins United, he'll flop massively."

Osimhen was close to joining United in 2020, according to his brother, Andrew.

"Manchester United wanted Victor [Osimhen], but he told me something like he had too much respect for Odion Ighalo to be competing for shirts with his senior colleague," Andrew Osimhen told Complete Sports.

"My brother holds Ighalo in high esteem and he just didn't see himself going to Old Trafford to battle for a striking role with the highest goalscorer at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt."

Ighalo was on loan at the Red Devils in the 2020/21 campaign and is a source of inspiration to Osimhen.

Since then, Osimhen has improved his overall game and had a huge influence on Napoli's 2022/23 Serie A winning campaign - scoring 31 goals in 39 games in all competitions.

And his desire to play in the Premier League is no secret.

“Of course, one day I’d like to play for a big club in England,” he told the Independent in 2020.

“I’ve spoken to Odion [Ighalo] about it. He gave me very good advice, he’s a legend and a big brother. My goal is to play at one of the biggest clubs in the world."

The forward played in yesterday's 0-0 draw against Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce and was asked whether he will be at the club next season by journalist Hasan Tankaya.

“I really love Galatasaray so much," Osimhen replied.

The 26-year-old's Napoli contract is set to run until the summer of 2027.
