A new update regarding Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future has emerged.

Alexander-Arnold, 26, is a key man in Liverpool’s side that currently chase Premier League glory after winning seven of their nine league games this term.

So far during his tenure, Arne Slot has not faced too many challenges, but the contractual situations of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold rumble on in the background.

With Van Dijk and Salah seemingly approaching the latter years of their career, it would be unlikely that Liverpool would receive a huge fee if the pair had more than a season left on their contacts.

However, all three players’ current deals are set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

As for Alexander-Arnold, he is arguably approaching his peak, but he too, could leave Liverpool for free at the end of the season.

The right-back will be free to negotiate with foreign clubs from January 1, 2025, with Real Madrid thought to be keen on the England international.

New details regarding his future have now emerged, with Liverpool set to accept a £42m bid from the La Liga side in the January transfer window, according to a Spanish outlet, Defensa Central.

A switch to the Spain's capital would be a huge step in the player’s career, but he may look to close friend and Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham for tips if he does sign for Madrid.

From a Real Madrid perspective, the current first-choice right-back, Dani Carvajal, is out for the foreseeable future after sustaining a tear in his anterior cruciate ligament in September.

Carvajal, 32, is thought to be a popular figure in Los Blancos’ dressing room, but after such a serious injury, there will be question marks about his long-term future as a starter in Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

This may mean that the situation is perfectly aligned for a new right-back to arrive at the club.

In September 2024, the Liverpool-born defender issued an update on his future.

"I have always said I want to captain the club," Alexander-Arnold said.

"That is a goal of mine, whether that happens is out of my hands.”

"I want to be a Liverpool player this season", he told TNT Sports.
