Former Arsenal and Liverpool star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is reportedly close to a sensational return to England, with at least one Premier League club interested in signing him.

Oxlade-Chamberlain won the Premier League title during a six-year spell with Liverpool, having previously spent six years in north London with the Gunners.

He scored 20 goals and produced 24 assists in 235 Premier League appearances before completing a shock move to Turkish giants Besiktas in August 2023.

He struggled to make an impact in Turkey, only scored five goals and registering one assist for the club before his contract was terminated last month, opening the door for an unexpected return to England.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has also impressed for England in years gone by, scoring seven goals in 35 caps for his country.

The Star report that his experience is attracting the attention of Leeds United, who are currently 12th in the Premier League table.

They have registered one win, one draw, and one defeat in their opening three fixtures following their return to the top flight of English football.

The other club believed to be interested in acquiring Oxlade-Chamberlain’s services is Championship side Birmingham City.

They are currently tenth in the table with seven points from their opening four matches.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was paid a severance package of €1.75 million (£1.5m) following the termination of his contract by Besiktas.

He arrived in Turkey on a free transfer after his contract with The Reds came to an end two years ago.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has suffered through several fitness issues during his career, including two knee injuries during his time at Anfield.

The versatile star came through Southampton’s academy before breaking into their first team during the 2009/2010 campaign.

As a free agent, the 32-year-old can still be signed outside of a transfer window.

Prior to joining Liverpool, Oxlade-Chamberlain won three FA Cups with Arsenal.

He also won the UEFA Champions League and Carabao Cup during his spell with Liverpool.

The midfielder was even a part of the Liverpool squads that claimed the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in 2019.

He has also lifted the 2023/2024 Turkish Cup while with Besiktas.

Off the pitch, Oxlade-Chamberlain is engaged to Little Mix star Perrie Edwards.
