As the January transfer window enters its final hours it has been reported that Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal have all made an enquiry over 24-year-old South American talent.

Arsenal are reportedly leading the race for Atalanta midfielder Ederson despite interest from Manchester United and Liverpool according to a report from Goal Brasil.

Ederson has featured in all 21 of Atalanta's Serie A games so far this season and is integral to the Italian side averaging 81 minutes per game.

The Brazilian has chipped in with five league goals so far this season, with the central midfielder having the versatility to fill in both defensive and attacking roles throughout the midfield.

The Italian club is open to considering offers for the player, but they are unlikely to agree to his departure for a discounted price.

It remains to be seen if any of the three Premier League clubs are willing to invest a significant sum in acquiring the midfielder.

There's a clear need for Arsenal to bolster their midfield with a player capable of dominating battles and dictating the game's tempo alongside Declan Rice.

Ederson emerges as a prime candidate for this role. With his technical prowess, Ederson would provide composure, defensive solidity, and adept control in the heart of the midfield, addressing Arsenal's needs effectively.

The North London club has initiated inquiries regarding the signing of the 24-year-old midfielder, however, they are yet to present a formal and concrete proposal for the Atalanta man.

Manchester United are in need of upgrades in midfield as loanee signing Sofyan Amrabat has failed to live up to Erik ten Hag's expectations, so it comes as no surprise that they are interested in the Brazilian midfielder.

Liverpool on the other hand are not short of options in Ederson's position following an extremely positive midfield rebuild over the summer with the signings of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Ryan Gravenberch.

However, having an elite strength in depth is what wins you Premier League titles so the Merseyside club's interest isn't completely unwarranted.
