Liverpool look set to sell another player this summer, and fans cannot believe the reported fee.

The 2024/25 summer transfer window has been quiet for Liverpool, who remain the only Premier League club yet to sign a new player.

In terms of outgoings, Liverpool have had to say goodbye to several members of the squad, with players like Fabio Carvalho, Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip all departing over the summer.

And now, it appears that another player could be set to leave the club, and Liverpool fans have had their say on the reported fee for the deal.

The report comes from The Athletic's football correspondent David Ornstein, who has revealed that Sepp van den Berg is close to joining Brentford from Liverpool for a fee of £20m+.

The Dutch defender impressed last season for Bundesliga club Mainz, but despite this, Liverpool fans appear to be happy to let him go due to the fee negotiated by new sporting director Richard Hughes.

Reacting to the news on X, one fan wrote: "£20M for a player I’ve never heard of? That’s insane."

While another compared the deal with Aaron Wan-Bissaka's recent transfer to West Ham United from Manchester United, writing: "How is Liverpool selling him for a higher fee than AWB? That’s crazy business."

Another hopeful fan praised the club's leadership, and stated that maybe the funds could be used to sign someone new, writing: "The genius of Michael Edwards raking in transfer fees for Liverpool... Surely this along with the unspent Caicedo/Lavia/Zubimendi money will be enough to buy a top top player."

Furthermore, would not be the first deal between the two clubs this summer, as Portuguese youngster Carvalho also joined the Bees this month for a reported fee of £27.5m.

The report comes just minutes after news that the Merseyside club are closing in on their first signing under Arne Slot, as a deal with goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is entering the final stages.

The Georgian keeper will reportedly join Liverpool this summer but spend the 2024/25 season with current club Valencia in La Liga, despite rumours that he would instead be loaned to Bournemouth.
