Liverpool fans are divided as one player is reportedly set to leave the club despite an impressive pre-season.

The Reds are gearing up for their first season under Arne Slot after the Jurgen Klopp era came to a close on the back of the 23/24 campaign.

With the new season just under a week away, Liverpool remain the only team yet to bring in any new players.

It has been previously reported that Slot would like to assess his current options before making a decision on transfers.

One of the players given the chance to impress during pre-season was Fabio Carvalho, who spent last season on loan at RB Leipzig and Hull City.

The 21-year-old was involved in matches against Real Betis, Arsenal and Manchester United during Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States.

Carvalho managed to impress as he scored against both Arsenal and United.

However, it has been claimed that he could be sold before the end of the transfer window.

Last week, it was claimed that Liverpool rejected an offer from Southampton for the midfielder.

But as reported by Portuguese news outlet A Bola, Carvalho is set to join Premier League side Brentford for €20 million.

The Times journalist Paul Joyce wrote: "Liverpool’s Fabio Carvalho to Brentford package is worth £27.5 million inclusive of add ons.

"In addition, there is also a 17.5% sell on clause. Fulham receive 20pc of profit above £5m."

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “He had a good pre-season. Why was he sold?”

Another tweeted: “Absolute STEAL for Brentford that.”

A third fan added: “Still trying to figure out why. Had so much great expectations for him this season.”

Someone else wrote: “I think it’s a poor deal. Too low that price.”

A fifth commented: “Good signing for Brentford. He’s gonna shine under Thomas Frank.”

Speaking about working under Slot, Carvalho said during pre-season: “We spoke and he told me to try and settle on the wing but obviously I know where I play best and I feel that is as a No.10.

“I’m just going to do what he wants me to do and just work as hard as I can for him.”
