Arne Slot has banned Liverpool players from doing one thing in training that Jurgen Klopp allowed them to do.

Back in January, Klopp shocked the football world when he announced he would be stepping down as Liverpool manager on the back of the 23/24 season.

Former Feyenoord and AZ Alkmaar boss Slot took over in June and is now gearing up for his first taste of Premier League football.

The 45-year-old enjoyed a decent start to life as Liverpool boss as they managed to win all three matches during their pre-season tour of the United States, against Real Betis, Arsenal and Manchester United.

As Slot attempts to install his style of play into the Liverpool squad, fans have picked out one thing that he has done differently from when Klopp was in charge.

On social media, one fan explained: “Interesting observation from Inside Training. Slot has banned the players from doing back heels/drag back flicks in rondos.

“Under Klopp all the players used them when space got tight but Slot and his coaches now want players to “open” their bodies instead.

“Joe Gomez (only back in training a couple of days) used one in a rondo in today’s Inside Training and he was given a bib and had to go inside the circle, even though the flick came off well.”

The fan continued: “This links back to articles I’ve read about Slot’s training where it was stated he doesn’t let players use flicks but today’s Inside Training was the first time I’d seen it in practice.”

Another fan pointed out the same thing last month, writing on social media: “Absolutely fascinated by Slot’s attention to detail in the rondo’s in the inside training video, guiding players on opening the body to play a forward pass at the correct angle rather than playing meaningless back-heel passes. Also encourages to pass to the correct foot.”

Liverpool will take on Sevilla and Las Palmas before kicking off their 24/25 Premier League campaign against newly promoted Ipswich Town.
