Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala has placed Manchester City and Arsenal on red alert after speaking about his contract.

21-year-old Musiala is one of the most sought-after talents in world football after his impressive performances in Bavaria.

The midfielder was born in Germany but spent the majority of his youth career in England playing for the likes of Southampton and Chelsea before moving to Bayern.

Since making his senior debut in 2020, Musiala currently has 56 goals in 184 matches and is attracting interest from clubs around the continent.

Reigning champions of England City are said to be interested in signing the German international, who has a transfer value of €130 million on Transfermarkt.

Aside from City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid have also been linked with Musiala.

What has Jamal Musiala said about his Bayern Munich future?

During a recent interview with German news outlet Sport Bild, Musiala spoke about his contract situation.

He said: "Unfortunately I can't give the fans a Christmas present. There won't be any news in the near future.

"We've had a lot of games recently, a lot of travelling. My focus is to concentrate on the games. I want to be free on the pitch, even if there's a lot of pressure from outside."

Musiala continued: "All in all, all the parameters that contribute to this big decision have to feel good and right for me."

Despite not signing a new deal, Musiala went on to hint at extending his stay with Bayern.

The 21-year-old added: "I would like to leave my mark on an era at FC Bayern. If I extend my contract with FC Bayern, that's my ambition and my goal.

"But I also know that you have to work for it, with victories, titles and major trophies. Then you get that kind of prestige: I want to earn that at FC Bayern."
