A Premier League club has registered interest in Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde following his altercation with Los Blancos teammate Aurélien Tchouaméni.
Last week, Valverde hit the headlines for the wrong reasons after he was involved in a fight with Tchouaméni, which resulted in the Uruguayan being knocked unconscious before being taken to hospital for treatment for a “small cut” on his forehead.
Valverde has been ruled out of the subsequent two La Liga matches against Barcelona and Real Oviedo after being diagnosed with cranioencephalic trauma – a type of traumatic brain injury – and has been ordered to rest for between 10 and 14 days, as per standard protocols.
The pair, who both issued apologies in public statements, were each fined €500,000 (£432,000).

So, what does this mean for Valverde’s future?
Well, since the altercation with his teammate, he has been linked with several huge European clubs, including Premier League leaders Arsenal, as well as fellow English clubs Chelsea and Manchester City. European champions Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also keeping tabs on his situation.

However, on Saturday (May 16), a new report from Football Insider transfer correspondent Peter O’Rourke claimed Valverde had emerged as a target for Manchester United, with Casemiro already confirming his departure this summer, leaving a void in central midfield.
United view the Real Madrid man as one of the best players in the world in his position and value his experience on the biggest stage, with the player having won three La Liga titles and two Champions League crowns during his time at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, O’Rourke explained: “If he’s allowed to leave Real Madrid and becomes available in the summer, most of Europe’s big clubs would be interested in Valverde.
“He’s one of the best midfielders in world football, there’s no doubt about that.
“There’s been lots going on at Real Madrid with this bust-up with Tchouaméni and everything else, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens at Real in the summer.
“It’s no surprise that Manchester United have been credited with an interest in Valverde.
“We all know they’re looking to improve their midfield options and they will be active in this window to bring in midfielders, with Casemiro leaving.
“If he does become available, you’ll have a host of top clubs interested in Valverde, not just Manchester United.”
Valverde, who is contracted to Real Madrid until 2029 and reportedly earns nearly £350,000 per week, has produced 41 goals and 44 assists in 371 Los Blancos appearances.
