A key Chelsea star has revealed that he would like to move away from London while speaking to the media during international duty.
Despite enjoying a positive start to life at Chelsea after taking over in January, head coach Liam Rosenior is currently under pressure, with the Blues losing their last four matches before the international break.
With Chelsea sitting sixth, outside the Champions League places, and just seven games remaining, Rosenior will no doubt be planning for the final stretch of the season while most of his players represent their countries.
However, the Englishman cannot seem to catch a break at the moment, as a controversial interview with Chelsea vice-captain Enzo Fernández has emerged, with the midfielder currently preparing for Argentina’s friendly against Zambia.

As relayed by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Fernández was asked which city, other than London, he would like to live in. He replied: “I’d like to live in Madrid. It’s a beautiful city, it reminds me of Buenos Aires.”

When further pressed on which clubs he would like to represent, he simply smiled and refused to comment, although the mention of living in the Spanish capital will no doubt add fuel to speculation of a potential summer exit.
Chelsea fans were quick to react on social media.
One said: “Bro is always talking about loyalty. He literally fights with anyone who leaves Chelsea to play for a different team. Here he is simping for Madrid while still under contract with Chelsea. Hypocrite.”
Another added: “Historic wink at Real Madrid. Real Madrid and Barcelona are the pinnacle of football — the best players in the world have played for those teams, and the greatest players want to play for those teams.”
A third claimed: “He can leave if he wants. We’ve had bigger names than him leave the club and nothing happened.”
While a fourth commented: “I don’t even blame him for this disrespect. If he wants to leave, he should — get him out of our club. It’s all the incompetence of the sporting directors; they are the ones at fault for this. But Enzo is really stretching too far. He’s got a contract with Chelsea, and I don’t think Madrid will currently be willing to meet Chelsea’s valuation. It could go badly for Enzo — falling out with the Chelsea fans and eventually not signing for Madrid. He’s got to be careful at this point.”
This comes after the 2022 World Cup winner made another controversial comment following Chelsea’s 3–0 (8–2 on aggregate) Champions League round of 16 second-leg defeat to PSG on 17 March.
After the defeat, he was asked where he would be playing football next season, to which the Argentine said: “I don't know. My focus is here for now. We have eight Premier League matches to play and the FA Cup. Then the World Cup is coming up, so we’ll see after that.”
In 2023, Enzo arrived at Chelsea from Benfica for a then-British transfer record fee of £107 million. He is currently under contract until 2032 and reportedly earns up to £225,000 per week, equivalent to £11.7 million per year.
Chelsea return to action at home against Port Vale in the last eight of the FA Cup on 4 April.
