They have registered 23 points in the league and are only behind leaders Arsenal.
Chelsea find themselves in a commanding position ahead of the new year as they mount a charge on multiple fronts given they are still in the Carabao Cup.

And it appears the club will strengthen their position by reinforcing their squad.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Chelsea have reopened contact with Mike Maignan's representatives over a move to West London, having attempted to sign him last summer.
It comes after Maignan does not intend to extend his contract at AC Milan, with his existing deal set to expire in June 2026.
Milan want to avoid a free transfer situation and are already preparing for different scenarios, with Chelsea determined to strike a deal.
Per the report, Chelsea are 'accelerating behind the scenes' and actively working to 'reorganise their goalkeeping department'.

However, they face stiff competition from Juventus, who are also in the running. They are closely monitoring developments and view him as a potential successor to Michele Di Gregorio.
But, as things stand, Chelsea are the frontrunners and have taken the 'first concrete steps' and have a 'sporting project likely to convince' the 30-year-old.

Chelsea's pursuit of Maignan could see Filip Jorgensen depart to make room for the French stopper.

Jorgensen, who has made four appearances this season, appears set to leave, having joined the club for £20 million in the summer of 2024.
Robert Sanchez is currently Chelsea's No.1, with the Spanish international playing 16 games across all competitions this campaign, including every league game.
Maignan, meanwhile, has made 176 appearances for Milan since joining the club from Lille in the summer of 2021.
He helped the Italian giants to Serie A glory in the 2021/22 term.
