Benjamin Pavard has told Bayern Munich that he wants to join Manchester United but there is a "very big difference" when it comes to valuation, say reports in Germany.

The 27-year-old France international is desperate to become a United player this summer. In fact, Pavard has a 'verbal agreement' to join the ranks at Old Trafford, according to Sky Sports.

Bayern, however, would prefer the versatile defender to stay put after they failed in a move for Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker. That being said, the Bundesliga club may have to switch up their approach.

After days of speculation surrounding his future, it appears Pavard has told Bayern of his desire to become a Manchester United player.

That's according to BILD via @iMiaSanMia, who suggest the Frenchman no longer feels comfortable in Munich and wants to leave.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are willing to pay £29 million for Pavard but Bayern are asking for around €45m-€50 million, which translated to around £38-£43 million.

The Premier League club are currently on the lookout for reinforcements after a £30 million deal was agreed with West Ham for centre-back Harry Maguire.

They have been linked with moves for Jean-Clair Todibo and Edmond Tapsoba as potential replacements for the England international, who looks set to leave Old Trafford in the coming days.

But it appears Pavard, a player with a one year left on his current deal at Bayern, looks the most likely to join with weeks remaining of the transfer window.

Last week, Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol confirmed United would move for Pavard should Harry Maguire leave the club.

“Sources in Germany are expecting Manchester United to make a move for Benjamin Pavard if Harry Maguire leaves United," he said.

“Bayern Munich have known for a long time that Pavard wants to leave and one source has told us that the player wants to move to United and also negotiations are ongoing at the moment.

“Now he’s a right-back that also plays as a centre-back. He would cost, we’re being told around €30-35million, so probably around £30 million.

“In the past, he’s been linked to Manchester City, Liverpool and Barcelona, and he moved to Bayern from Stuttgart I think four years ago for €35 million."

Solhekol added: “I think what Bayern were trying to do this summer was to sell Pavard because he told them he wants to leave and replace him with Kyle Walker from Manchester City.

“But it looks like Kyle Walker is going to sign a new contract and stay at City, so will Bayern be putting pressure behind the scenes on Pavard to actually stay at the club? Our information is that the player would fight to get out of Bayern Munich.

“He really wants to move to the Premier League and I think he would find it very, very difficult to say no to Manchester United if United were to make an offer for him.”
