Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr respond to second straight defeat by signing €60 million forward

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr have had a poor start to the new season

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr have decided to react to two successive defeats by spending €60 million on a new player.

During the summer transfer window, Al Nassr have already spent big to bring in the likes of Sadio Mane, Alex Telles, Marcelo Brozovic and Seko Fofana.

However, despite having those stars in the team, it has been an awful start for Ronaldo and his team.

After losing 2-1 to Al Ettifaq last week, Al Nassr were beaten 2-0 by Al Taawoun on Friday night.

In response to their poor start, Al Nassr are reportedly set to spend €60 million on a new signing.

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the Saudi Professional League side are closing in on a deal to sign Otavio from Portuguese side FC Porto.

He tweeted: “Otávio to Al Nassr, here we go! Verbal agreement reached on €60m release clause fee value.

“Al Nassr to pay €60m package not in one solution but different instalments; waiting to check details on contracts then time for travel and medical.”

Romano added: “It’s a record sale for FC Porto.”

Since Ronaldo ditched European football for Saudi Arabia back in January, clubs in the Saudi Professional League have been spending big to add to their squad.

Al Nassr’s big rivals, Al Hilal have signed the likes of Ruben Neves, Neymar and Kalidou Koulibaly.

Whilst the likes of Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Fabinho have joined Al Ittihad.

Meanwhile, Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson ditched Anfield for Al Ettifaq, who are managed by Reds legend Steven Gerrard.

Premier League stars such as Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez, Allan Saint-Maximin and Edouard Mendy have also made a move to the Kingdon of Saudi Arabia.

Al Nassr will next be in action on Tuesday in the AFC Champions League against Shabab Al Ahli at the KSU Football Field.
