Tottenham squad given sleepless night as Marseille fans set off fireworks outside their hotel ahead of Champions League clash

Spurs face Marseille in the south of France on Tuesday night.

Tottenham's squad were given a sleepless night by Marseille fans on the eve of their crunch Champions League match against the French club.

Spurs face the Ligue 1 side away from home on Tuesday in their final group match.

All four teams in Tottenham's group can still qualify for the knockout stages of the competition.

Antonio Conte's side are currently top of their group, one point ahead of second-place Sporting Lisbon and third-place Eintracht Frankfurt.

Marseille are a point further back at the bottom of the group and need to beat Tottenham to book their place in the last 16 of the competition.

Supporters of the French club have resorted to some underhand tactics ahead of the game in an attempt to give their side an advantage.

A clip is circulating on social media of fans setting fireworks off in the middle of the night outside Tottenham's hotel.

At one point during the video, the person recording can be heard cackling with laughter.

Unsurprisingly, fans of Tottenham's rivals have praised the supporters on social media.

"Love the evil laugh," posted one fan on Twitter.

"That's awesome," commented another.

A third wrote: "Can always get behind this whenever it's done, whoever it's by."

While a fourth joked: "Tottenham countered with a Harry Kane bedtime story, which put everyone to sleep (mercifully)."

Tottenham will be without Conte on the touchline and in the dressing room against Marseille after the Italian was sent off at the end of last week's draw with Sporting Lisbon, after Harry Kane's late goal was ruled out for offside.

Conte has compared the match with Marseille to a final and has urged his players to continue their momentum following Saturday's dramatic 3-2 win over Bournemouth.

Speaking after the weekend win, Conte said: "I think it was vital for us this win, especially after two losses in the Premier League, and now this win has to give us enthusiasm and passion to go into Marseille and to play a final.

"This game will be a final for us to go to the next round of the Champions League."
