The two players missed each other at Manchester United but Pogba's long balls and RVP's ability on the volley would have made them deadly.

One fan has imagined just how good a pairing Paul Pogba and Robin van Persie would have been as a duo at Manchester United, using a well edited video.

Van Persie was a member of the last United team to win the Premier League back in 2013 and was the man who made the difference between Sir Alex Ferguson's team and previous champions Manchester City in the 2012/13 season.

The Dutchman scored a hat-trick against Aston Villa to seal the title, which included a brilliant volley from Wayne Rooney's ball over the top of the defence.

RVP's ability at volleying, which he honed in partnership with Alex Song at Arsenal, is one major reason he would have made a great foil for Pogba, as proved by a video edit from United fan Shameless FC.

Pogba's time at Old Trafford, since returning to the club in summer 2016, hasn't always been perfect and he's come in for a lot of criticism.

However one thing that can't be denied is his ability to pick out a pass, whether over the top of the defence or through in behind them, and his partnership with Marcus Rashford has been very good.

Whilst Rashford's form has no doubt improved under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he's still not on the level that Van Persie was for the Red Devils.

The former Feyenoord forward lasted three seasons at Old Trafford, scoring 48 times in 86 league games, before moving on to Turkey to play for Fenerbahce.

He played two and a half seasons in Super Lig before moving back to Feyenoord for the final 18 months of his career, even winning the Dutch Cup on his return.

Pogba has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford almost since the moment he arrived back in Manchester from Juventus.

He has missed most of the season because of injury, although the current pause to the campaign could see him return if/when it restarts, but links to both Juve and Real Madrid refuse to go away.
