Great scenes...

Phil Foden, Manchester City's next big thing, was irresistible as England came from behind to win the Under 17 World Cup in Kolkata yesterday.

Steve Cooper's side were 2-0 down to Spain early on in the first half, with Sergio Gomez notching twice.

But the talented crop of youngsters showed incredible character and quality to completely turn the game on its head and win the game via a 5-2 scoreline.

Rhian Brewster, the tournament's top scorer, reduced the deficit on the stroke of half-time before the young lions ran riot in the second half, with goals coming from Morgan Gibbs-White, Foden (2) and Marc Guehi.

It completes a quite remarkable year for England's youth sides, following on from the Under 20 side winning their World Cup and the Under 19's winning the European Championships.

And Foden, the pint-sized Stockport-born midfielder who is adored by Pep Guardiola, was in sensational form as England went all the way - deservedly picking up the Player of the Tournament.

But before he could get his hands on the individual award, as well as the Under 17 World Cup trophy, he, along with his manager, did a post-match interview.

The 17-year old was understandably overwhelmed and lost for words following the historic win and his teammates swiftly took over the interview to bombard him and celebrate wildly.

Great scenes. To see the young lads having the time of their lives after a truly remarkable achievement is absolutely brilliant. Twitter absolutely loved the togetherness shown by the crop of players, with former internationals Robbie Fowler and Phil Neville weighing in.

With two World Cup wins and an Under 19's European Championship victory at youth level this year, there's reason to be excited about the next generation of England youngsters.
