The Manchester United captain's game time isn't even matched by any goalkeeper in the world and he has 300 minutes more than second place.

No one has played more minutes of football in the world than Harry Maguire so far this year, and the defender isn't the only Manchester United player high on the list.

2020 has been a weird year for everyone and it's no different for football, with a huge break in the middle of the season followed by a rush to get last season and this season done in time, plus Euro 2020 being postponed.

At the end of last season football even introduced five substitutes in most domestic leagues and cups, and other than the Premier League all in Europe have continued with it.

The change was in order to stop players from playing too much and being burned out but clearly Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hasn't taken his captain off too often.

Maguire has played an incredible 4745 minutes this year, as per CIES Observatory, the equivalent of nearly 53 games, despite often being poor, whilst Ruben Dias in second place has played 301 minutes less. Even Internacional goalkeeper Marcelo Lombardo, the most used keeper, has only played 4740 minutes.

It's quite incredible that Maguire is joined by Bruno Fernandes and Victor Lindelof in the top 15. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has often been criticised for using too many players and tactics but clearly can't afford to be without those three players.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is another in the top 100 for Solskjaer's team, and it certainly suggests there's a lack of competition at the back for United.

Of course the Premier League side reached the FA Cup and Europa League semi-finals last season and have played in the Champions League this season whilst reaching the Carabao Cup quarters, so they have played a lot of football generally.

It's less surprising that Solskjaer has relied on Bruno Fernandes so much. The Portuguese midfielder completely changed the team's fortunes around last season when he joined in January.

He's continued to impress this season and scored twice as United beat rivals Leeds 6-2 on Sunday night, in an incredible game.
