Sergio Aguero was left baffled by the decision Pep Guardiola made during Manchester City's Champions League clash against Real Madrid.

Real and Man City played out a thrilling 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu in the first leg of their semi-final tie.

Vinicius Junior opened the scoring in sensational fashion as he smashed home a long-range goal.

Kevin De Bruyne cancelled out the Brazilian's goal with a thunderous strike in the second-half.

Pep Guardiola's side will go into next Wednesday's second-leg with the tie in the balance following tonight's affair.

But Guardiola's decision during the game has confused fans online, not to mention Man City legend Aguero.

The Spaniard did not make a single substitution, with Aguero slamming his old manager for not utilising Julian Alvarez.

Erling Haaland was unable to make a huge impression in the game as Real defenders David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger contained the forward.

Aguero wanted to see his fellow countryman on the field as he made his feelings known after the result.

"What I don't understand is why he didn’t put Julián [Alvarez on]... I wonder, but well it’s Pep. He doesn’t marry anyone," he said via @City_Xtra. "If it was up to me, I'd play Julián in almost every game - we need him to be active and have a spark."

Fans online were also baffled by Guardiola's lack of changes.

One Twitter user wrote: "Again 93 minutes of play, and made no substitution. What does Pep Guardiola want to prove?"

A second sarcastically tweeted: "Loads of substitutions made by Pep Guardiola tonight ay..."

A third added: "I wonder why Pep Guardiola didn't do any substitution today, especially why didn't he brought Alvarez today."

Man City, who are top of the Premier League, resume their league campaign against Everton on Sunday before meeting Carlo Ancelotti's side again in the second-leg next Wednesday.
