It's the sort of video that would put a smile on anyone's face.

Sebastien Haller has made his emotional return to football just six months after being diagnosed with testicular cancer.

Footage of him stepping foot onto a pitch for the first time since his diagnosis has now started circulating around social media – and it makes for heart-warming viewing.

Back in July of 2022, the football community was rocked by the news that Borussia Dortmund striker Haller had been diagnosed with a testicular tumor after he complained of feeling 'unwell' during a team training session.

He actually received the devastating news just weeks after signing a four-year deal with Dortmund from Ajax.

Thankfully, after undergoing surgery and chemotherapy, Haller made a speedy recovery and was back in training by early January.

Now, less than half-a-year after the discovery of the tumour, Haller is back on a football pitch.

Dortmund's official social media accounts posted footage of the main man coming on as a substitute in what appeared to be a reserve game.

In the clip, he can be seen waiting on the sidelines to come on.

Hugged by the coach, Haller is then given a round of applause as he completes his remarkable comeback.

In less than 24 hours, Dortmund's video racked up 8 million views on Twitter alone and was re-shared by a bunch of big sports broadcasters.

With his recovery still ongoing, the former Premier League front man isn't expected to make his Bundesliga return just yet, although you can imagine the emotional scenes when he finally walks out for the first time at Signal Iduna Park.

"It's been a tough six months but I am happy to be here," Haller told reporters on return to training.

"I am happy to be here with the guys and able to play in this great weather and these facilities.

"Of course everything is possible. I have no restrictions in my mind. The only people who can give me restrictions are the coach and the medical staff. I will do my best to play on the 22nd."

Congratulations to Sebastian on his recovery. We wish him all the best.
