Holger Rune will make his comeback at the Bitpanda Hamburg Open, and fans are concerned it may be far too soon after his devastating achilles injury.
In October, Rune's 2025 season came to an abrupt end as he suffered a complete Achilles tendon rupture during the ATP tournament in Stockholm.
Due to the severity of the injury, it was not sure when we would next see the 22-year-old Dane on the tennis court, with surgery required to repair the damage.
However, following several months of rehabilitation, it has now been confirmed that he is set to make his come back at Bitpanda Hamburg Open in May, just seven months after the injury.

Although the news that the former world number four will soon be competing again is undoubtedly exciting, some fans are concerned he may be rushing back following the achilles rupture.
Some have argued that he may simply have a level of FOMO while others have expressed further concerns about how his body will adjust from playing on clay to the upcoming grass season.
Reacting to the news, one wrote: "Rushed. It’ll end up another inevitable injury. I’m not being a hater, I just respect what a torn Achilles actually means, especially for a body as muscular as his."
With one added: "I genuinely think this is FOMO. He's watching everyone else and dying to get back and that will end his career too early."
While one lamented: "God he is going to ruin his own career."

But Rune will be hoping he can prove the doubters wrong and show that he's ready to compete at the ATP 500 event in Hamburg, taking place a week before the French Open at Roland Garros.
“The hard work starts in Hamburg. I can’t wait to be back on clay at the Bitpanda Hamburg Open and to finally experience the atmosphere on site again after such a long break,” Rune confirmed.
Back in 2024, the Dane, currently ranked no.29, reached the quarterfinals at Rothenbaum, showing he's more then capable of performing well at the venue when fully fit.
However, Rune isn't the only big name set to compete in the tournament, with Germany's world number three Alexander Zverev also taking part.
And we could yet see him return before Rothenbaum, as Rune remains on the entry list for the Masters 1000 event in Rome, although it is yet to be confirmed if he will actually compete.
