Sean Dyche savagely rips into Harry Kane after Abdoulaye Doucoure red card

Sean Dyche savagely rips into Harry Kane after Abdoulaye Doucoure red card

Sean Dyche took aim at Harry Kane ahead of Everton's game at Manchester United.

Sean Dyche has ruthlessly joked that Harry Kane 'snapped an eyelash' following his exchange with Adoulaye Doucoure that saw the Everton man sent off.

Tottenham star Kane and Doucoure clashed during the 1-1 draw at Goodison Park on Monday.

The Everton midfielder was shown a straight red card after striking the England international in the face.

But Kane has come under criticism following his over-the-top reaction, with Dyche pulling no punches in his assessment of the incident.

He aimed a sarcastic dig at the 29-year-old during his pre-match conference ahead of his side's trip to Manchester United.

"I thought at one point he [Harry Kane] might have snapped an eyelash, which would have been tragic," he said.

"Abdoulaye certainly didn’t have to speak to the group to say anything."

Speaking after the result, Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville had different views on the Kane-Doucoure altercation.

"Harry Kane shouldn’t be going down for that," the former Liverpool defender exclaimed.

"It can still be a red card for putting your hand in someone’s face, Doucoure is wrong.

"But I wouldn’t go down there as a player, there’s nowhere near enough to make you go down. If my son did that I’d be embarrassed.

“The thing I really don’t like is players trying to get fellow professionals booked or sent off.

"I’ve got no problem with someone going down, winning a free-kick and jumping back up on their feet.

"He stays down rolling around when there's nothing wrong with him. Is that enough to make him go down?"

The ex-Man United captain, however, argued: "If we’re in our dressing rooms, we’re going 'well done Harry, you got him sent off'.

"I wouldn’t do it, but I wouldn’t mind my striker doing it.

"I’m giving Harry the benefit of the doubt. He does dive, he does go to ground, but when those fingernails go in your eye, that can shock you."
