Fans were quick to react on social media. Some fans claimed the 23-year-old looked unhappy to be at Newcastle.

One said: “Clearly doesn't want to be in Tyneside.”

Another tweeted: “I feel bad for him he doesn’t even want to play for them and he doesn’t look happy.”

A third fan added: “Creasing, he does not want to be there.”

Someone else wrote: “Looks absolutely thrilled to be there, going to be a flop I reckon.”

Whilst a fifth commented: “Loan back to Milan next year. Lukaku style. Looks upset being there.”

During the 22/23 season, the midfielder played 48 matches for Milan across all competitions, scoring twice whilst registering 10 assists.

“I want to repay the trust on the pitch, giving it my all, as I always have. I'm really excited about playing at St. James' Park, I can't wait to feel the warmth of the fans.”

Magpies boss Eddie Howe said: “I'm delighted to welcome Sandro to Newcastle United.

“He is an exceptional talent and has the mentality, physicality and technical attributes to be a great fit for us.”

Newcastle will begin their Premier League season with a home match against Unai Emery’s Aston Villa on 12 August.
