Newcastle United have been linked with the talented midfielder

A Newcastle United fan is so confident Sandro Tonali will get the number 20 jersey he’s already bought a shirt from the club shop.

After a brilliant 22/23 season that ended with qualification for the Champions League, Newcastle are looking to bolster their squad ahead of the new season.

This week, the North East club have been linked with a move for AC Milan midfielder Tonali.

It has been reported that the 23-year-old Italian could move to St. James’ Park in a deal worth £60 million.

However, one Magpies fan has already gone one step further by buying a shirt with Tonali’s name on the back.

The fan posted a video on YouTube as he predicts Tonali will get the number 20 shirt.

He has previously done the same thing back in January when Newcastle were linked with then-Everton winger Anthony Gordon.

The fan again predicted the number 20 jersey for Gordon but the Englishman ended up with the number eight shirt due to the departure of Jonjo Shelvey.

Newcastle’s proposed deal for Tonali has somewhat come as a surprise due to the player’s love for Milan.

He reportedly said last year: “I’d never make the mistake of leaving. I know what I went through to get here. I dream of becoming a ‘bandiera’, the flag-bearer, as Maldini, Franco Baresi were.”

Apart from Tonali, Eddie Howe is reportedly interested in the likes of James Maddison, Scott McTominay, Conor Gallagher and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Maddison was asked about how he deals with speculation during the international break. He said: “It’s a pause and put the blinkers on and focus on the job at hand.

“It was a tough end to the season but the positive about the games with England after having a little bit of a break between the last game of the Premier League season and now.

“It was good to refocus on these games, if it was straight away it would have been more difficult. I am fully focused on tonight and raring to go.”
