Fernando Torres has sent Sadio Mane a warning about moving to Chelsea.

According to Football Insider Chelsea are planning to submit a proposal to Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mane.

The 31-year-old only left Anfield last summer, having claimed 120 goals and 38 assists during a trophy-laden six-year spell at Liverpool.

However, he has endured a difficult season in Bavaria, plagued by poor form and off-the-field issues.

Bayern are reportedly willing to sell Mane despite the player having returned to Thomas Tuchel’s starting XI.

And Chelsea allegedly want to make Mane their first summer signing. Indeed, Mauricio Pochettino, who is widely reported to be in line to take up the Chelsea manager post, is also said to be keen on luring the Senegal international to Stamford Bridge.

Torres’ Chelsea warning

Torres moved to Liverpool from Atletico Madrid back in 2007 and established himself as one of the world’s most prolific strikers over a four-year spell.

The Spaniard then controversially sealed a January deadline-day move to Chelsea, where he won the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup but failed to reach the lofty heights of his Liverpool performances.

In 172 games for the Blues, Torres scored only 45 times before returning to Atletico in 2016 after a brief loan spell at AC Milan.

While Torres insisted he doesn’t regret joining Chelsea, the move meant he is no longer seen by many Liverpool fans as a legend. Indeed, Mane too could damage his reputation with Liverpool fans if he joins Chelsea.

Torres told TalkSPORT: “It was maybe my fault for not being able to adapt quicker. I had really good moments but I was not consistent. And if you are not consistent at a big club like Chelsea and you are not performing every week then someone will come in and take your position.

“Arriving at a club like that full of stars in the middle of the season it is very difficult to fit in. Maybe I didn't find the partnership that I had with [Steven] Gerrard, [Javier] Mascherano and Xabi [Alonso] but I always said it was my fault. I was old enough to find solutions but I didn't do it.

“I'm happy because I won the trophies that I wanted, I played really good football but I didn't do it every weekend so in any big club in the world if you don't perform every weekend then it is not enough.”
