Robert Lewandowski Speaks Out After Poland REFUSE To Play Russia In World Cup Play-Off Game

​Robert Lewandowski has spoken out after Poland announced that they will REFUSE to play Russia in their upcoming World Cup play-off game. 

​Russia are scheduled to host Poland on March 24, with the winner in line to face Sweden or the Czech Republic for a spot in this year's World Cup.

But Russia vs. Poland has been thrown into doubt in wake of Vladimir Putin's decision to launch an assault on Ukraine.

As a result, President of the Polish FA Cezary Kulesza has confirmed they do NOT intend to fulfil the fixture in wake of the invasion of Ukraine.

Poland captain Lewandowski has backed Kulesza's decision, saying 'we can't pretend that nothing in happening' in a defiant post on social media.​

"It is the right decision!" He tweeted. 

"I can’t imagine playing a match with the Russian National Team in a situation when armed aggression in Ukraine continues. Russian footballers and fans are not responsible for this, but we can’t pretend that nothing is happening."

Kulesza released the following statement on Twitter.

"No more words, time to act!" He tweeted. "Due to the escalation of the aggression of the Russian Federation towards Ukraine the Polish national team does not intend to play the play-off match against Russia.​

"We are in talks with​ Swedish and Czech federations to bring forward a joint statement to FIFA."
