Just when you wonder if Cristiano Ronaldo could actually get any better he goes and scores one of the best Champions League goals we've seen against Juventus, earns a standing ovation from the opposition crowd and the perfect tweet from Peter Crouch.

Cristiano Ronaldo became the first man to score in 10 consecutive Champions League games last night as Real Madrid inflicted further pain on Juventus in the Champions League, having beaten them in last season's final.

Ronaldo's goal was just unreal.
Ronaldo's goal was just unreal.

This time the setting was the quarter finals and Juve were expected to give a better account of themselves, if they could still be in the tie going to the Bernabeu they had a great chance, like in the semi-finals of the 2014/15 competition.

But Ronaldo soon made sure that wouldn't happen. He opened the scoring in just the third minute to break that record but it was his strike in the 64th minute that will go down in history. He met a Daniel Carvajal cross with a soaring overhead kick in the box, flying past Gigi Buffon.

No one could quite believe what they were seeing, well apart from Peter Crouch. The former Liverpool man's own ability to score that kind of goal led him to having the best response of anyone:

Of course there's been fantastic overhead kick goals over the years, with Wayne Rooney's strike against Manchester City the most often repeated, but Crouch's own version also came in the Champions League.

Playing for the Reds against Galatasaray in 2006 the big striker nabbed two goals in a 3-2 victory in the Group Stages including a scissor kick with his back to goal to put his side 3-0 up.

Crouch has history for his great tweets:

Marcelo's strike eight minutes later made it 3-0 and pretty much ended the tie with the Old Lady highly unlikely to overturn that deficit back in the Spanish capital in a few weeks time.

It means Zinedine Zidane's side will roll on to yet another semi-final as they aim to become the first side to with the Champions League three years in a row, just one year after being the first side to win it back to back.

As always Ronaldo found a way to make it all about him in the best possible way.
