Wout Weghorst’s reaction to being back training with Burnley has got fans talking on social media.

The 6ft6 Dutch striker first joined Burnley from German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg back in January 2022 in a deal worth a reported £12 million.

After scoring just twice in 20 matches for the Clarets, Weghorst was loaned out to Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas ahead of the 22/23 season before joining Manchester United in January.

However, after a disappointing loan spell, he has since returned to training with Burnley and footage of him returning to the club has got fans talking. You can watch the footage below.

When asked how it feels to be back, he said: “The same, but it feels good.”

Later in the video, Weghorst was asked what he is most looking forward to about being back.

The Dutchman said: “To be successful here, be successful at Burnley.”

Fans were quick to react to the footage on social media.

One said: “Big sigh after “What are you most looking forward to about being back…””

Another tweeted: “What are you looking forward to most? When I tell you that man was DYING to say 'leaving’”

A third fan added: “He doesn't look too pleased.”

Someone else wrote: “This brother is getting double figures for Burnley this season.”

Whilst a fifth commented: “That long sigh. You’re traumatising him.”

Another fan said: “Weghorst has one goal next season and it's against Manchester United.”

Weghorst was included in the Netherlands squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and scored in the quarter-final clash against Argentina.

After the tournament, United showed their interest during the January transfer window.

However, Weghorst only managed to score twice in 31 appearances across all competitions, having scored nine in 18 matches for Besiktas in the first part of the campaign.

Burnley will be kicking off their 23/24 Premier League season against champions Manchester City at Turf Moor.
