Thomas Frank Heavy Favourite for Huge Job Hours After Spurs Sacking

Frank would be replacing a manager who is currently in work.

Thomas Frank has been installed as the heavy favourite for a huge role after being sacked by Spurs.

Spurs parted company with the Dane on Wednesday after a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle left them in 16th place in the Premier League.

The north London club have won just two of their last seven matches, and zero Premier League games in the current calendar year.

He isn't the only managerial casualty in the Premier League this week, with Sean Dyche having been sacked by Nottingham Forest in the early hours of Thursday.

But rather than being tipped to seal an almost immediate return to football via the City Ground, Frank is instead favourite to take another English role.

As per BetVictor, Frank is the leading candidate, at odds of 2/1, to take over at Crystal Palace.

His nearest rival, according to the same bookmaker, is Spanish coach Jose Bordalas at 8/1, though other bookmakers have installed Bordalas as their favourite.

Oliver Glasner has already announced that he will leave his managerial role at Selhurst Park this summer upon the expiry of his contract.

But the Austrian has overseen a difficult run of form since his announcement.

Palace lost 3-2 at home to strugglers Burnley - who hadn't won in 18 matches - on Wednesday, despite taking a 2-0 lead in the first half.

They are also out of the FA Cup after being stunned by National League North side Macclesfield in round three.

Palace are eight points clear of the drop zone, however, and are also still in the Europa Conference League.

The Eagles take on Bosnia and Herzegovina Premier League side HSK Zrinjski in the play-off round.

Glasner was left furious with his side's display in the Burnley defeat, after new £48 million signing Jorgen Strand Larsen had scored a brace to put them ahead.

He told TNT Sports: "Honestly, I can't explain it. We gave the game away way too easily. Maybe it was too easy.

"With our lack of intensity, we did not defend well. Once we don't defend well, once we make a mistake, one is a set play.

"We can't show a consistent performance over 95 minutes very often. That is a little bit the problem. Once it is this, once it is that. You get punished."
