Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis says the club will give supporters who were caught up in the Huntingdon train attack the financial support needed to have "the best possible medical care".

Nine people were initially believed to have been left with life-threatening injuries after passengers on a train from Doncaster to London were attacked in a mass stabbing on the evening of November 1.

It has since emerged that following assessment and treatment, four individuals have been discharged from hospital. Two patients remain in a life-threatening condition.

Two suspects were arrested in the aftermath as authorities continue to look into what happened. John Loveless, a Superintendent from British Transport Police, has said there was nothing to suggest it was a terrorist incident.

Loveless also said the two men arrested on suspicion of attempted murder were a 32-year-old male, a Black British national, and a 35-year-old British national of Caribbean descent,

"We continue work to establish the full circumstances and motivation for this incident," he added. "It would not be appropriate to speculate on the cause."

A Forest supporter attempted to tackle one of the knife-wielding attackers, according to the Star.

It read: "Nottingham Forest Football Club wishes to express its deepest concern and heartfelt sympathy to all those affected by the shocking attack on an LNER train bound for London yesterday evening.

"Many of our London-based supporters were travelling home on that train following our match at the City Ground, and our thoughts are very much with everyone caught up in such a distressing incident.

"The club is aware that many individuals demonstrated extraordinary bravery which undoubtedly helped prevent even greater harm. The entire Nottingham Forest family stands firmly behind them as they recover from the events of yesterday."
