Manchester United fans slammed not one but two players following their dismal showing in the first half against Brentford.

Man United trail 2-1 at the break at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Igor Thiago bagged a brace inside 12 minutes, opening the scoring in the eighth minute before adding another in the 20th minute.

He beat Harry Maguire's offside trap to break the deadlock then scored from close range to double his side's lead.

Benjamin Sesko, who cost £73.7 million during the summer transfer, pulled one back to open his Man United goal account.

Despite Sesko's goal, Man United supporters were very critical of their team's defensive performance against Brentford.

They bemoaned the displays of Maguire and Luke Shaw, who responded to Roy Keane's criticism following the Manchester derby earlier this month.

Maguire failed to keep Thiago offside for Brentford's first goal and Shaw was unable to track the Brazilian forward for the Bees' second goal.

Needless to say, Man United fans on social media pulled no punches as they took aim at the English defenders.

One X user wrote: "Fielding Maguire & Shaw in 2025 is horrific management," while a second added: "Maguire redemption arc they say, this a is a joke, Shaw is scamming us every single f**king week."

A third said: "How Luke Shaw starts for much in 2025 baffles me... Amorim is beginning to p**s me off."

Mark Goldbridge commented: "That's on Amorim....playing Maguire as the last man in 2025."

It's not the first time Shaw has been subjected to criticism as he was called out by Keane for his outing against Manchester City.

"For him to get caught out like that," Keane said of Shaw. "I think Shaw has been getting away with murder for years at United. Always injured, never quite fit."

Speaking ahead of Man United's game against Brentford, Shaw said Keane's criticism 'hurts' but claims he was right.

"Sometimes you just have to take it on the chin," he said.

"Of course it hurts. He was one of the best captains ever for Manchester United.

"I think he was right. Last week, I wasn't at my level at all. I don't need Roy Keane to tell me."
