Fans have made their minds up on Martin Zubimendi after watching just 45 minutes of him in action against Manchester United.

Zubimendi returned to the starting XI to face Man United on Thursday, having missed last week's first-leg in Spain through illness.

Plenty of eyeballs were watching him as he reportedly attracts interest from Arsenal and Liverpool, who failed in their pursuit of the player last summer.

The Gunners are thought to be keepings tabs on Zubimendi ahead of triggering his £51 million release clause.

But some Arsenal fans on social media are NOT convinced by the Spanish international following his first-half showing at Old Trafford.

They believe he's not the answer to their problems as the 26-year-old's performance didn't excite fans.

One X user wrote: "Swear the only time I've seen Zubimendi play well was for Spain against England in the Euros, he's always average every time I watch him for Sociedad. What's so special about him that every top club in Europe want him??"

A second tweeted: "Zubimendi is awful. Cancel the deal and go and sign Bruno G."

An Arsenal fan added: "Zubimendi is just incredibly average man, does not improve us in any way."

Another commented: "Zubimendi is not the answer to our problems."

On Monday Night Football, Jamie Carragher referenced Zubimendi as he insists the lack of striker is not the issue for Mikel Arteta's side.

"Forget bringing in a number nine, the first thing they might have to do is [sign] more creative players," Carragher explained on Sky Sports.

"The fact that it looks like they're going to buy [Martin] Zubimendi in the summer and maybe replace Partey in the holding midfield position, you're getting a different profile of player.

"That first step to actually being more creative next season will help them be a bit more competitive in the Premier League."
