Liverpool fans are loving Virgil van Dijk's furious message to Lisandro Martinez during their Premier League clash against Manchester United.

Shortly after Luis Diaz put Liverpool in front, Lisandro Martinez conceded a foul by clattering into Dominik Szoboszlai on the half-way line.

Anthony Taylor immediately blew his whistle and issued a yellow card to the Man United defender.

As the Argentine returned to his position, Van Dijk rushed over to the scene of the foul and hurled a five-word message to his counterpart as he was held back by the match referee.

As the Liverpool captain gestured to Martinez, he appeared to say: "Come try that with me."

Needless to say, Liverpool fans online loved Van Dijk's on-field message.

One X user wrote: "F**king love our Virg. He loves the responsibility of being his size."

A second said: "My f**king captain."

A third added: "That's our captain!!! Liverpool legend."

A fourth commented: "Oh I love @VirgilvDijk taking absolutely no prisoners today. What a leader."

Another posted: "Love this from Virg. All as one."

After the incident between Van Dijk and Martinez, Liverpool scored two goals to register a big 3-0 win at Old Trafford.

Luis Diaz swept home just before the break as Mohamed Salah completed the rout with a fine finish in the second-half.

Arne Slot's side have now won their opening three league games of the new season.

What's more, they have scored an impressive seven goals in three games and have yet to concede a goal.

As for Erik ten Hag's team, it's back-to-back league defeats following their 2-1 loss at Brighton last weekend.
