Fans are all saying the same thing about Ivan Toney after Harry Toffolo’s betting ban.

On Wednesday it emerged that Nottingham Forest defender Toffolo has been given a suspended five-month ban by the Football Association, with the player having admitted to 375 breaches of betting rules.

The 28-year-old's ban is suspended until the end of 2024-25, while he has also been fined £20,956.

The Nottingham Forest defender breached rules which ban players from placing bets or passing on information that could be used for betting 375 times between January 2014 and 18 March 2017.

At the time he played for Norwich, while he also had loan spells at Swindon, Rotherham, Peterborough and Scunthorpe.

The FA says the written reasons for their decision "will be published in due course".

However, the length of Toffolo’s ban has raised eyebrows among certain fans on Twitter, given Toney’s punishment for similar offences back in May.

The Brentford and England striker was banned for eight months after admitting to 232 breaches of the FA's betting rules - fewer than Toffolo.

Unlike the Nottingham Forest player, Toney’s ban was immediate and not suspended. The striker was banned from training until 17 September and cannot play again until 17 January 2024.

Writing on X, one fan said: “If I’m Ivan Toney I’m getting on to my lawyers for answers from the FA why Toffolo has been handed a suspended sentence when he broke 100+ more rules than Toney. Cos the maths ain’t mathing…”

Another, rather pointedly, wrote: “Well it’s quite obvious no? Toney is being made an example of, like who tf is Harry Toffolo let’s be honest.”

A third said: “Toney gets longer for less breaches & Toffolo’s ban is suspended??? Doesn’t make sense to me.”

A fourth person said: “This is an absolute joke. Ivan Toney got banned for eight months for placing 262 bets while Harry Toffolo has been banned for just five months despite making over 100 more bets. Make It Make Sense.”
