Jorginho scored an outrageous own goal during Arsenal’s pre-season friendly against German Bundesliga 2 side FC Nurnberg.

After a disappointing end to the 22/23 season, the Gunners are looking to get their preparation right ahead of another charge for the Premier League title in the 23/24 season.

On Thursday evening, Arsenal were up against FC Nurnberg at the Max Morlock Stadion and took the lead through Bukayo Saka’s fine effort after seven minutes.

In the second half, Jorginho produced a bizarre moment as he scored an own goal from around 30 yards after receiving a pass from goalkeeper Karl Jacob Hein.

Fans were quick to react to the goal.

One said: “What on earth was that from Jorginho?”

Another tweeted: “Even tho Jorginho was the Arsenal player who last touched the ball im giving that own goal to Karl Hein.”

A third fan added: “Keepers had a shocker.”

Someone else wrote: “Good job this game doesn’t matter.”

Whilst a fifth commented: "Thank goodness Declan Rice is coming in so I don't have to deal with Jorginho anymore."

Mikel Arteta also gave an Arsenal debut to summer signing Kai Havertz, who joined from Chelsea last month in a deal worth a reported £65 million.

The German was brought on before the start of the second half after being named among the substitutes.

After sealing the deal for Havertz, Arsenal are now closing in on a double deal to sign Declan Rice from West Ham United and Dutch defender Jurrien Timber from Ajax.

Arteta will be hoping his new additions will be able to take the team that one step further as the Gunners look to claim their first Premier League title since the 03/04 season.
