Alan Shearer has sent a special message to Erling Haaland after the Manchester City forward became the fastest player to join the Premier League 100 goals club.
Haaland, who also reached 10, 25 and 50 goals quicker than anyone else in Premier League history, scored his 100th with a 17th-minute strike in City's dramatic 5-4 win over Fulham on Tuesday night.
It took the Norwegian just 111 matches to reach the century, beating Shearer's long-standing record of 124 matches. Harry Kane (141), Sergio Aguero (147) and Thierry Henry (160) make up the top five.
Nobody in the current game has come close to scoring at the same rate as Haaland, who has scored against all 23 clubs that he has faced since arriving in Manchester in the summer of 2022.

To congratulate the striker on his latest achievement, Alan Shearer posted a message of his own on social media, which resulted in a wholesome conversation between the pair.

After Haaland posted a picture of himself holding a shirt with '100 PL goals' printed on the back, Shearer replied: "Well done Erling. Your numbers are incredible man. Keep up your great work."
A short time later, Haaland posted a picture of himself and Shearer, when the former Newcastle United striker was on interviewing duties for Amazon Prime Video.

He also thanked Shearer for giving him some advice back in 2022, confirming that it "paid off" in the coming years.
Shearer has previously told Manchester City's number nine to embrace the hunger for goals and the immense pressure that comes with being a top striker. Clearly, he has taken those words of advice on board.
So, how did Haaland react to breaking the record? In typical fashion, he said it was his job to score goals – a sentiment Roy Keane would be proud of.
“I don’t want to say the words, but when you’re a striker for Man City, you should be delivering great numbers and that’s my job,” he told Sky Sports. “People should criticize me if I don’t. That’s normally what people do, so in the end, I should deliver.”
Earlier this year, Shearer backed the "perfect" Haaland to replace him as the greatest striker in Premier League history and score more than 260 goals, a record that has stood since 2006.

"If you're building a footballer or centre-forward, you wouldn't look too far away from Haaland being the perfect one," he told Betfair.
"Haaland could definitely break my Premier League goal record. There's no doubt that, if he does another seven or eight years, maybe even less, then he'll have a brilliant chance of breaking it.
"But there's so many ifs and different things that could happen to that. What happens if and when Pep Guardiola leaves, the shadow is still hanging over Manchester City in terms of the inquiry that's gone on."
Shearer added: "There are so many ifs and buts, but absolutely, if Haaland was to stay in the Premier League another six or seven years, then he's definitely someone who could, and probably will break my record."
