Sofascore's Premier League Team of the Season has thrown up some surprising names including Chelsea's Thiago Silva and Everton's James Tarkowski.

The 2022/23 league season is officially in the books, with Manchester City making it three league titles in a row after pipping Arsenal to top spot.

Manchester United and Newcastle United complete the top-four thus securing Champions League football for next season, while Southampton, Leeds United and Leicester City drop out of the top flight to the Championship.

Everton survived by the skin of their teeth as they beat Bournemouth 1-0 at Goodison Park on the final day of the season to confirm their Premier League status.

Abdoulaye Doucoure scored the only goal of the game as Sean Dyche successfully kept the Toffees up.

Despite their struggles this season, Tarkowski makes Sofascore's Team of the Season. What's more, he's joined by Silva even though Chelsea had a miserable campaign. The Brazilian defender played 26 league games this season as the Stamford Bridge club conceded 47 league goals, finishing in 12th spot.

Brentford duo David Raya and Ethan Pinnock complete the backline.

Man City pair Jack Grealish and Kevin De Bruyne, who has the highest rating in the XI, feature in midfield.

Man United's Bruno Fernandes, Arsenal's Martin Odegaard and Newcastle's Kieran Trippier make up Sofascore's middle of the park.

Erling Haaland and Harry Kane are named up front. The Norwegian phenom smashed 36 goals as he won the Premier League Golden Boot award. As for the Tottenham forward, he bagged an impressive 30 league goals.
