It's only a few days since the European club football season ended with Manchester City winning the Champions League final against Inter Milan and clinching the Treble in the process.

But attention has already turned to next season, with the fixtures for the 2023/24 Premier League campaign released on Thursday morning.

Liverpool will take on Chelsea in the pick of the games in the opening round, while newly-promoted Burnley host defending champions Manchester City.

LIVERPOOL COULD LOSE SALAH FOR CRUCIAL GAMES

Liverpool could lose Mohamed Salah for crucial games against Chelsea and Arsenal due to the Africa Cup of Nations, which is due to take place in the Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11.

It could rule Salah out of games against Chelsea (January 31) and Arsenal (February 3).

In total, he could miss up to five league games should Egypt reach the final.

WHEN DOES THE SEASON START?

The 2023/24 Premier League season will get underway on August 12 and conclude nine months later on May 19, 2024.

The start is one week later than the 2022/23 launch as the schedule returns to normal.

Last season started earlier and finished later than usual as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

As was the case in the 2022/23 campaign, there will be a mid-season player break which will take place between January 13-20.
