Premier League fixtures for opening round of 2023/24 'leaked' - but potential flaw spotted

The opening round of Premier League fixtures has been 'leaked' online - with Manchester United and Liverpool both slated to face newly-promoted sides.

The official fixture list is released by the Premier League at 9am, with supporters of every club eagerly waiting to see which opponents they will entertain on opening day, Boxing Day and the final day in particular.

There will surely be no club's supporters more excited than Luton's, with the Hatters preparing to finally play Premier League football for the first time after being relegated the season prior to the English top division's reformation.

Manchester City, meanwhile, will begin the season as the reigning treble winners, whilst Brighton will look to start their campaign on a strong note ahead of their first-ever European campaign.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have requested to play their first game away from home, due to redevelopments that will be ongoing at Anfield. In the last two seasons, their opening game has been away from their home ground.

But the main thing that every team will hope to avoid is a consecutive run of games against the division's top sides.

Now, ahead of the fixture release, one Twitter account has claimed that they have the list of opening round games - and there are some interesting clashes in the 'leaked' list.

Premier League 2023/24 fixtures 'leaked'

According to Twitter account @NUFCITKHub, Manchester United will kick off next season's Premier League in the Friday evening slot, on August 11.

Erik ten Hag's side will host Luton at Old Trafford, in the Hatters' first top division fixture since 1991.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will travel to another newly-promoted side in Burnley, with Vincent Kompany's side looking to make an early impression at Turf Moor.

There are then five matches in the Saturday 3pm slot, including Tottenham vs Fulham and Aston Villa vs Everton. The fact that Sean Dyche's Toffees are away from home, as well as Liverpool, ondoes suggest there is a potential flaw on the 'leaked' list. Usually, both sides have opposite fixtures when playing on the same day.

Brighton vs Arsenal is earmarked for the 5:30pm slot in the 'leaked' list, with two fixtures on the Sunday.

Sheffield United host Newcastle at Bramall Lane, with Chelsea hosting Manchester City in the later kick-off.

As a reminder, the full fixture release is revealed at 9am by the Premier League - meaning we'll find out then if the 'leaked' fixtures match up to the official ones.
