Premier League 2022/23 Fixtures Announced

The Premier League season will be a strange one with a break part way through the season to allow for the World Cup.

Erling Haaland is set to make his Premier League debut against West Ham United, with Manchester City facing the Hammers on opening weekend of the season.

It isn't that long ago that City mounted a final day comeback against Aston Villa to capture the title, although England's awful fixtures have made it feel like longer, and already we know next season's fixtures.

The Premier League will reconvene on the weekend of August 5th, with a now traditional Friday night game between Crystal Palace and Arsenal, a week earlier than usual.

Fans will certainly be excited to see Haaland's first run out, and it should be in the opening fixture against David Moyes' side, as Pep Guardiola's champions travel to the Olympic Stadium.

Equally there will be interest in seeing Darwin Nunez make his league debut for Liverpool, against newly promoted Fulham, as the season's first Saturday lunchtime kickoff, both strikers will likely have met the week before in the Community Shield.

Elsewhere on Matchday One, Manchester United host Brighton, Leeds United welcome Wolves, Brentford travel to Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur face Southampton and Frank Lampard will once again be reunited with Chelsea.

Newly promoted sides Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth are both against established sides, playing Newcastle United and Aston Villa respectively.

The season is certainly a strange one, with a break for the World Cup planted part way through and a really heavy schedule in the second half of the campaign.

Games will be played up until November 13th and then they'll then take a pause, although not for too long, as international teams get ready for the World Cup.

The opening games, including England's first match, are just eight days later on November 21st, and there's a similarly short gap after the tournament.

The final in Qatar will take place on December 18th and, in traditional style, England's top tier will resume in time for the Boxing Day fixtures.

That day will see Arsenal vs West Ham, Aston Villa v Liverpool, Brentford v Spurs, Chelsea v AFC Bournemouth, Crystal Palace v Fulham, Everton v Wolves, Leeds v Man City, Leicester v Newcastle, Man Utd v Nottingham Forest and Southampton v Brighton.

However, this year they'll be no fixtures in between Boxing Day and New Year's Eve, with teams given a very small break from the bruising schedule.

They'll obviously be back after that, and the FA Cup third round will also be in its usual spot of the first full weekend of the new year, on January 7th and 8th.

The final day of the season will be on May 28th, and fans will be hoping for more of the drama that saw City and Liverpool compete until the final whistle this year.

The defending champions will face Brentford on that Sunday, whilst Liverpool will be up against Southampton, both playing away against their opponents.
