"They wanted that position" - Guardiola names the nine clubs who wanted City removed from the Champions League

Guardiola pulled no punches on Friday.

Pep Guardiola treated Man City's fans to a passionate press conference on Friday, including calling out the nine Premier League clubs who wanted the Citizens kicked out of the Champions League.

City boss Guardiola had remained tight-lipped with regard to his opinion on the Premier League's decision to charge his club with over 100 counts of financial misconduct.

But the Spaniard let rip on in his pre-Aston Villa press conference on Friday, standing by his club who he feels have been "condemned" by the competition.

Guardiola's comments also linked back to City's legal battle with UEFA in 2020, one which saw the club overturn a two-year ban from European competition.

The 52-year-old made a point of individually naming all nine Premier League teams who wanted Manchester City kicked out of the Champions League during the trial, stating the following:

"Whilst we wait for UEFA to make a sentence against us, nine teams - Burnley, Wolves, Leicester, Newcastle, Spurs, Arsenal [Manchester] United, Liverpool, Chelsea - [wanted City] out of the Champions League. They wanted that position."

The club would go on to be exonerated by UEFA after appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against their ruling, but as proven by his comments today, Guardiola isn't eager to forget those who campaigned against his side.

The Premier League's unprecedented charges against the club had lead to speculation that Guardiola could resign from his role as City manager, but he made it abundantly clear that he has no intentions of leaving the club anytime soon:

"I am not moving from this seat. I can assure you more than ever that I want to stay. More than ever."

Guardiola - who has been at the club since the beginning of the 2016/17 season - recently signed a two-year extension at the Etihad Stadium, one which will keep him in the hot seat until 2025.
