'How is my english mate?': Olivier Giroud’s cheeky response to Jason Cummings' jersey swap claims

'How is my english mate?': Olivier Giroud’s cheeky response to Jason Cummings' jersey swap claims

Well played, Giroud. Well played.

Olivier Giroud has hit back in the best way possible after Jason Cummings accused the Frenchman of rudely turning down his advances to swap jerseys.

Not just that, though, apparently Giroud claimed he didn't speak English when approached by Cummings – despite playing in the Premier League for a decade.

Now the Frenchman has returned serve – and it's absolutely excellent.

After returning home to Australia after the World Cup, Socceroos striker Cummins shed some light on a hilarious interaction he had with Les Bleus forward Giroud following France's 4-1 win over the Aussies in the group stage.

“After the France game, I actually tried to get Mbappe – forget Giroud, I went for the top boy Mbappe – and he told me to meet him in the change rooms,” Cummings said on The Project.

“So I went to the changing room and the kit man was there and I gave him my top and 10 minutes later he came out with my jersey and says: ‘Nah, absolutely not, (Mbappe) doesn’t want to swap’.

“So when I was walking back to my changing room and I’ve seen Giroud and I’m walking, as handsome as ever, and I asked him, ‘Giroud, please man, can I get your shirt man? I’m a big fan, can I get your shirt?’

“And he just walked past me, pretended he never spoke English! And he’s been in the Premier League for 10 years!

“He just walked right past me!”

Cummings' story instantly went viral with everyone finding it pure gold.

Well, it seems the Scottish-born Aussie's yarn has found its way to Giroud himself, who has now issued a response of his own.

Giroud took to Twitter to post a picture of Australian midfielder Jackson Irvine's used playing strip.

He captioned the photo, saying: "Hi @jacksonirvine_ How is my english mate?"

Giroud also accompanied it with a bunch of laughing emojis as well as the Australian and French flags.

The post racked up loads of likes with Irvine even commenting on it.

"What a man," he said.

"I can confirm we exchanged our hair care routines in perfect English."

As for Cummings himself, AKA 'Cumdog', he is yet to respond.
