It may have seemed like a done deal just a week ago, but now it appears that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's €70million move to Paris Saint-Germain is off.
The former French champions have recently appointed a new sporting director, Antero Henrique, who has deemed the Gabonese striker to be too expensive and is instead pursuing other attacking options ahead of the 2017/18 season.
Rumours had been rife that a deal was done between Borussia Dortmund and PSG, with reports even circulating that Aubameyang had bought a house in the Parisian suburb of Neuilly-sur-Seine.

However, upon Henrique's appointment, PSG's new sporting director brought an end to the club's pursuit of the African Player of The Year, yet the Portuguese director still hopes to deliver a marquee name for manager Unai Emery before the end of the summer transfer window.

One player who Henrique may turn to as an alternative is Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez, who is still facing an uncertain future at the Emirates stadium, with a new contract yet to be signed and the Gunners unable to provide the Chilean with Champions League football, next season.

Bayern Munich and Manchester City also retain an interest in Sanchez, however, which could make the Parisians' pursuit of him more problematic.

With his current deal with the Gunners set to expire next summer, Sanchez would likely be a more affordable option for PSG.
Les Rouge-et-Bleu will be keen to bolster their squad significantly ahead of the upcoming campaign, with manager Unai Emery needing to regain the Ligue 1 title that made its way to Monaco, last term.
